How much does ptosis correction surgery cost?

The price of ptosis surgery is related to many factors. Ptosis is divided into congenital and acquired according to the cause, mild, moderate and severe according to the degree of ptosis, and unilateral ptosis and bilateral ptosis according to the individual. The clinical manifestations of each person are different, the methods used are different, the difficulty of treatment is different, and the time spent is different, so the cost of surgery will naturally be different. The price of general surgery is around 4,000 to 12,000.

Factors that influence the price of ptosis surgery

1. Choice of hospital

Since each hospital has different charging standards, medical levels and medical equipment, the price of upper eyelid ptosis surgery will vary.

2. Doctor’s Choice

Generally, eye plastic surgeons can perform upper eyelid ptosis surgery, but the results of professional doctors and ordinary doctors will be different, and the charging standards of professional doctors and ordinary doctors are also different!

3. Choice of surgical method

There are several methods for upper eyelid ptosis surgery, and the price of each method will vary, so it will directly affect the price of upper eyelid ptosis surgery!

Ptosis can be improved by shortening the levator palpebrae superioris muscle

If you have moderate or mild ptosis, then you are more suitable for levator palpebrae superioris muscle shortening surgery, which may achieve long-term and immediate improvement. Levator palpebrae superioris muscle shortening surgery has been improved by countless surgeons, and the surgical methods have changed a lot, which can be roughly divided into:

1. External approach: Make an incision on the upper eyelid skin

2. Internal approach: Make an incision on the conjunctival surface inside the upper eyelid

3. Combined internal and external incision.

During the operation, after the levator palpebrae superioris muscle is separated from the upper and lower tissues, it is cut off from the connection with the tarsal plate. Then, the amount of shortening that needs to be done is marked according to the amount of ptosis of the eyelid. The levator palpebrae superioris muscle is then re-sutured to the tarsal plate at the marked position, subtracting the part that needs to be shortened.

Advantages of the levator palpebrae superioris muscle: Surgical treatment of levator palpebrae superioris muscle shortening. This surgical method maintains the original direction of movement of the muscle, is more in line with the physiological requirements of the eyes, and the postoperative effect is also ideal.

Disadvantages of levator palpebrae superioris: However, this method is limited to patients whose levator palpebrae superioris muscle strength is not less than 4mm.

Ptosis can be improved with frontalis muscle flap suspension

Frontalis muscle flap suspension can also improve ptosis, but this surgical method is only suitable for patients with severe ptosis. There are two ways to perform frontalis muscle flap suspension. The first way is to indirectly use the power of the frontalis muscle to correct ptosis, and fascia lata materials are often used for suspension. An incision is made at the upper eyelid double eyelid line and three small incisions are made on the upper edge of the eyebrow. The fascia lata is inserted into the subcutaneous tissue from the central incision on the upper edge of the eyebrow to the double eyelid position with a special guide needle. The fascia lata is then inserted into the subcutaneous tissue from the double eyelid position to the inner and outer incisions on the upper edge of the eyebrow and led out respectively, so that the fascia lata is in a "W" shape under the skin. The fascia lata is then sutured and fixed to the frontalis muscle and tarsal plate tissue at the upper and lower incisions with sutures. Another method of frontalis muscle flap suspension is to directly use the power of the frontalis muscle. An incision is made at the upper eyelid double eyelid position, the frontalis muscle is cut apart from the orbicularis oculi muscle, and separated from the upper and lower tissues, and the frontalis muscle flap is made. The frontalis muscle flap is sutured to the tarsal plate, and the upper eyelid is adjusted to the appropriate position and then sutured and fixed.
