The role and efficacy of hyaluronic acid and the harm of hyaluronic acid injection

Hyaluronic acid is the most commonly used product in medical cosmetic surgery. Hyaluronic acid has many cosmetic effects. It can hydrate and moisturize the skin, lock in moisture, and also perform cosmetic shaping and change the shape of facial features. It is often used in cosmetic injections.

The role and efficacy of hyaluronic acid

1. Lock in moisture

The miracle of deep water lock that reaches the bottom of the skin. The usual daily water replenishment care is just "surface work". When applying moisturizing products, the skin can only absorb water to a certain extent. If there is no water lock component, the water will disappear after a while, and may even take away the original water. Through the injection method, the water lock component hyaluronic acid can be directly added to the bottom layer of the skin, blooming excellent water replenishment and water lock energy from the source. The skin foundation is getting better and better, and the appearance is naturally radiant. You can easily have a smooth and delicate skin like a "peeled egg"!

2. Moisturizing

Beyond the penetrating moisturizing effect, applying layers of cosmetics will make the skin overwhelmed. Hyaluronic acid is originally a moisturizing ingredient in the skin. It is widely present in the skin, connective tissue, mucous tissue and lens. It plays an important role in the dermis of the skin. It plays an important role in overall maintenance and transportation between cells. It is extremely nourishing and extremely pure. The skin will love "drinking water" in an instant, and subsequent maintenance and skin care products will be better absorbed. The skin will regain youthful vitality, relieve dryness and fatigue, no longer rough and tight, and become soft and invincible!

3. Wrinkle removal

With immediate wrinkle removal effect, hyaluronic acid can be used to eliminate static facial wrinkles such as forehead wrinkles, crow's feet, and nasolabial folds. The hyaluronic acid is injected into the wrinkles or the part that needs to be filled through points, using the three-dimensional tunnel injection technology dedicated to the Laser Plastic Surgery Center of the Air Force General Hospital. The doctor's skills are very high, and the beauty seeker only feels a little bit of acupuncture. The whole process usually takes only 5-15 minutes, which is very relaxing. After the treatment, the skin can become delicate and elastic, and the facial contours can be sculpted to exude the smooth brilliance of youth!

4. Shaping

As a natural filler for facial shaping, hyaluronic acid injection can also achieve facial shaping and maintain a youthful appearance. Currently, hyaluronic acid is widely used in facial contour shaping such as non-invasive rhinoplasty, lip augmentation, and chin augmentation. The reagent used for hyaluronic acid injection comes from biological tissue and is a natural ingredient. Therefore, there is no foreign body sensation or foreign matter left after injection, no side effects, and the appearance effect is relatively natural to the naked eye.

The dangers of hyaluronic acid injection

Clinically, hyaluronic acid injection has the following three types of risks:

Risk-Tyndall Phenomenon

The first risk is the Tyndall phenomenon after injection. That is, a light blue mark or bulge appears at the injection site. The reason is that more dermal fillers are injected into the thinner skin area, and the layer is shallow. Under the light, the originally transparent injection material will show a light blue change. The Tyndall phenomenon is more likely to occur during injection around the eye, especially in the lower eyelid and tear trough area.

Risk 2 Nodules and bulges

Bumps appear on the skin surface or nodules appear inside the tissue, which is mainly caused by excessive injection of filler. Another reason is vascular embolism in the skin, which leads to degeneration and necrosis of skin tissue and causes secondary infection. If it is a subcutaneous infection, it is mostly caused by excessive one-time injection of subcutaneous fluid, poor operation or local infection before injection.

Risk of three-vessel embolism

Vascular embolism is the most serious complication of hyaluronic acid injection, which may lead to more serious consequences. Due to the rich blood supply to the head and face and the well-developed collateral circulation, once it enters the blood vessels, there is great uncertainty about its direction of travel. Vascular embolism is divided into arterial embolism and venous embolism. The manifestation of arterial embolism is local skin whitening, followed by mottled appearance; venous embolism is manifested by local skin color deepening or purple. In addition, in the case of large injection doses, if the injection flows back into the ophthalmic artery branch through the supraorbital artery and supratrochlear artery, it may cause blindness or visual field loss, and the incidence of such risks is increasing year by year. If it enters the common carotid artery through the superficial temporal artery, it may then enter the skull, causing serious complications such as cerebral artery embolism leading to hemiplegia or even death. Such events have also been reported occasionally. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy can be performed if conditions permit, and those who become blind can be transferred to ophthalmology for specialist treatment. Once vascular embolism occurs, the injection should be stopped immediately, and hyaluronidase should be given immediately for dissolution, and symptomatic treatment such as improving blood circulation should be given.

Side effects of hyaluronic acid

1. Local redness. Local redness is a common phenomenon after hyaluronic acid rhinoplasty. Physiological redness will disappear within 1-2 days. If it does not disappear within 3 days, you should go to the hospital for examination and timely treatment.

2. Local swelling. After hyaluronic acid rhinoplasty, there will be swelling, which will generally disappear in 1-2 days. If the swelling lasts for a long time, you need to go to the hospital for timely examination.

3. Local congestion. When injecting hyaluronic acid, if the needle touches tiny capillaries, subcutaneous congestion, or bruising, will occur. Generally, the bruise will slowly disappear within 1-2 weeks. Take ACMETEA orally as soon as possible to minimize rejection reactions and side effects and help the skin recover as soon as possible.

4. Pigmentation. Generally speaking, pigmentation may occur if the injection is too shallow or if you do not pay attention to sun protection.

5. Infection. Infection rarely occurs and may be caused by inadequate disinfection during surgery or improper postoperative care. Once infection occurs, you should go to the hospital for follow-up in time for treatment as soon as possible.

What is hyaluronic acid used for?

Hyaluronic acid is an acidic mucopolysaccharide. If people want to have supple skin, they cannot do without it. Of course, the human body also contains hyaluronic acid. It has a significant water-retaining effect and is the most powerful moisturizing substance found in the field. Hyaluronic acid can be said to be the most ideal natural moisturizing factor. Hyaluronic acid can improve the nutritional metabolism of the skin, make the skin supple and smooth, and has the effect of removing wrinkles and increasing skin elasticity. Therefore, it also has a good anti-aging effect. Moisturizing is conducive to the absorption of other nutrients. Therefore, if hyaluronic acid is used with other nutrients needed by the skin, the absorption effect of other nutrients will be particularly good. Initially, hyaluronic acid was only used for moisturizing, but now hyaluronic acid is indispensable in the ranks of plastic surgery and wrinkle removal. The hyaluronic acid used in plastic surgery is fermented and cultivated through certain technologies and has stability, so hyaluronic acid can be used to fill and remove wrinkles and plump certain parts, and the effect is immediate. But this does not mean that the injected hyaluronic acid will not be lost. With the increase of time and age, the skin's water storage capacity will weaken, and fine lines and dullness will still occur.
