The difference between contour powder and eye shadow

The difference between contour powder and eye shadow

There are many differences between contouring powder and eye shadow. Although they are both powdery and have similar colors, there are still some differences. Let’s take a look below!

The difference between contour powder and eye shadow

First of all, the effects are different

Contouring powder is used to contour the face, while eye shadow is used to make the eyes more colorful and make them look bigger and more vivid.

Secondly, the location used is different

Contouring powder is used on the chin and nose, and eye shadow is used on the eyes.

Can eyeshadow be used for contouring?

Contouring powder can actually be replaced by eye shadow powder, but the color must be chosen correctly. Do not choose pearlescent ones, but matte ones. Our professional courses all use eye shadow as contouring and blush, etc.

The difference between contour powder and highlight powder

A contouring powder palette usually has two color systems of contouring powder. The dark-colored powder is used to deepen the shadow effect, and the light-colored powder is a general-purpose highlighting powder. However, if special modification and brightening are required, you can consider a separate highlighting powder. Generally speaking, the relationship between contouring powder and highlighting powder is an inclusive and included relationship!

How to draw contour

Step 1

Before we do contouring, we should first do brightening, which can make the whole makeup look cleaner. And this way we can also control the weight of contouring powder, because after brightening, the facial features will become more three-dimensional, and you won't be too heavy when you use contouring powder.

Step 2

The T-zone of the face is the focus of brightening. First, we use contouring powder on the cheeks, which can make the face narrower visually.

Step 3

Don't apply too much on the hairline, otherwise the forehead will look too dark. Apply a small amount of the product back and forth around the hairline several times. For the nose shadow, use a brush to draw the shape and width you want, and then blend it.

Step 4

The cheek contouring should be close to the jawbone, and lightly sweep up and down. Don't take too much contour powder each time, so that it will look like two black lines. Finally, you can press it with a powder puff to remove the excess loose powder.

Step 5

Don’t forget to apply blush! Applying blush on the apples of your cheeks will not only improve your complexion, but also make your face more three-dimensional and soften the traces of contour powder.
