What are seasonal skin allergies? What are seasonal skin allergies?

Some people will experience allergies when the seasons change. Due to the changes in climate and environment, the skin may not be able to adapt, and the skin condition will become unstable. This is generally more common in spring.

What are seasonal skin allergies

Seasonal skin allergies are a seasonal recurring disease, mostly caused by contact dermatitis caused by pollen, and are most common in spring and autumn. Seasonal skin allergies are caused by environmental factors, causing allergic symptoms such as itching, rashes, and peeling on the skin. They occur repeatedly every year and will subside on their own.

Allergens of seasonal skin allergies

The pathogenic mechanism of seasonal skin allergies is mainly due to allergens. Below we introduce several types of allergens, including inhaled allergens and ingested allergens.

1. Inhaled allergens: pollen, catkins, dust, mites, animal dander, oil smoke, paint, car exhaust, gas, cigarettes, etc.

2. Ingestion allergens: milk, eggs, fish, shrimp, beef, mutton, seafood, animal fat, foreign protein, alcohol, drugs, antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs, sesame oil, essence, onion, ginger, garlic and some vegetables and fruits.

3. Contact allergens: cold air, hot air, ultraviolet rays, radiation, cosmetics, shampoo, detergent, hair dye, soap, chemical fiber products, plastic, metal jewelry (watches, necklaces, rings, earrings), bacteria, mold, viruses, parasites, etc.

4. Injectable allergens: penicillin, streptomycin, xenobiotic serum, etc.

5. Self-tissue antigens whose structure or composition has been changed due to mental stress, work pressure, microbial infection, ionizing radiation, burns and other biological, physical and chemical factors, as well as self-hidden antigens released due to trauma or infection can also become allergens.

What to do about seasonal skin allergies

Seasonal skin allergies are a very common disease in daily life, especially in young children. Next, we will introduce some treatment methods for seasonal skin allergies from the aspects of diet and daily care.

1. In terms of diet, pay attention to giving your baby a nutritionally balanced diet. Eat more milk, freshwater fish, soy products, fresh vegetables and fruits to enhance skin resistance. Avoid eating saltwater fish, shrimp, crab and other foods that are prone to cause allergies.

2. If the baby is allergic, he should avoid contact with cosmetics. Mothers who often come into contact with children should not use too much cosmetics, and should not change cosmetics frequently. Skin care products with too much fragrance or too acid or alkaline should not be used. The chemical ingredients and fragrances contained in high-end cosmetics are complex and have a higher chance of causing allergies.

3. After the baby's skin is allergic, do not wash the face with too hot water to avoid irritating the skin, and do not use soap, as the alkali in it will aggravate the symptoms of skin allergies. Wash the face with a mild facial cleanser, do not apply any skin care products, and use your fingers to do some gentle massage on the face (it is better to tap with your fingers, do not use excessive force to avoid dermatitis), so as to relax the facial muscles, promote normal blood circulation, and accelerate the recovery of skin allergies. You can also try the following first aid tips, such as applying ice to the red and hot parts, taking out milk from the refrigerator, adding water to mix, and then applying it to the affected area with a clean cloth to reduce the risk of inflammation.

Treatment of seasonal skin allergies

Different degrees of seasonal skin allergies should be treated differently. Mild seasonal allergies can be treated with mometasone furoate cream, which has anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effects with relatively few side effects. Moderate seasonal allergies can be treated with 2% boric acid liquid cold wet compresses, then external application of mometasone furoate cream, and oral anti-allergic drugs. Severe seasonal allergies should be treated in the hospital.
