Where is the incision for breast reduction surgery? What is the shape of the incision for breast reduction surgery?

In addition to the common breast augmentation, breast reduction is also a popular surgery. For some friends with gigantic breasts, breast reduction surgery can allow them to return to normal life.

Where is the incision for breast reduction surgery?

Breast reduction surgery requires three incisions. One incision is made around the areola. Another incision is made from the base of the areola straight down to the inframammary crease. The third incision follows the natural curvature of the breast crease. After the doctor removes excess breast tissue, fat, and skin, the nipple and areola are raised to a higher position. The areola is usually larger due to the traction and needs to be reduced. The skin above the areola is pulled down and stitched around the areola to reshape the breast. Once the size and shape of the breast are satisfactory, the incisions can be sutured.

Breast reduction incision shape

The incisions for breast reduction surgery are made around the breast fold and areola, which is very natural.

Breast reduction surgery can greatly reduce the size of the incision and make it more concealed. Breast reduction surgery can even avoid horizontal incisions and vertical incisions to the bottom of the areola. Only circular incisions are made around the areola, minimizing the incision marks to the area around the areola, making them very unnoticeable.

How to do breast reduction surgery

The overdevelopment of female breasts causes the breasts to increase in size, resulting in breast enlargement, commonly known as gigantomastia. Patients undergoing breast reduction surgery first mark the position of the submammary fold, the position of the nipple after plastic surgery, and the incision line in a standing position, and then lie flat. After successful general anesthesia, the surgical area and donor area are routinely disinfected, and the skin and subcutaneous tissue are cut along the preoperatively designed incision. The epidermis of the skin within the dotted line is removed, and then the full-thickness subcutaneous tissue and breast tissue of the skin are cut along the outer edge of the dotted line to the superficial layer of the pectoralis major muscle to form a vertical double-pedicled breast composite tissue flap. The remaining breast tissue is reshaped, and the nipple and areola are shifted and reshaped upward to adjust the two sides to be basically symmetrical, making a hemispherical breast entity.

Breast reduction surgery precautions

1. Patients should lie flat after surgery and avoid strenuous exercise and exertion of upper limbs.

2. Observe the areola area within two days after the operation. If any abnormal symptoms occur, contact the attending physician in time.

3. Keep the dressing clean after the operation to prevent infection. If it needs to be replaced, a professional doctor can do it personally.

4. After breast reduction surgery, do not eat spicy or irritating foods, eat more light foods.
